Surf shak

About

You'll find us at The Watersplash, staring straight out at one of Europe's most iconic stretches of coastline and Jersey's most consistent surf break.

Formerly the Splash Surf Centre, this little surf shak has been part of Jersey surfing since the early 1960s. It has witnessed generations of surfers pass through its doors, hosted international competitions, survived countless storms and provided the backdrop to thousands of stories, friendships and misadventures.

The original surf school was established here in 1971 by a crew of South African lifeguards who helped shape Jersey's surf culture. Today, that legacy continues under Jersey Surf School.

The Surf Shak is now run by local surfer Jake Powell, who grew up surfing these waves, competing on this beach and causing his fair share of good trouble with the same crew he still surfs with today. From grommets running wild through the dunes to representing Jersey and Great Britain on the international stage, the beach has always been home.

While plenty has changed over the years, the spirit remains the same.

This is a place built by surfers, for surfers.

A place where first-timers catch their first wave, kids discover a lifelong love of the ocean and old friends still gather after a surf to put the world to rights.

Whether you're joining us for a lesson, hiring equipment, bringing a school group or simply soaking up a small piece of Jersey surfing history, you're part of a story that started long before us and will hopefully continue long after we're gone.

Welcome to the Surf Shak.
